Taliban detain Afghan fashion model on religious charges

The Taliban have detained a well known Afghan trend design along with a few colleagues, accusing them of disrespecting Islam and the Quran.

Ajmal Haqiqi – known among Afghans for his trend displays, YouTube clips and modeling functions – appeared handcuffed in video clips posted on Tuesday to Twitter by the Taliban’s Typical Directorate of Intelligence, DCI.

In one widely circulated and contentious video, Haqiqi laughs when his colleague Ghulam Sakhi, who is recognised to have psychological wellbeing challenges, speaks Arabic verses of the Quran with a comical voice. Sakhi is nicely identified for having a speech impediment that he takes advantage of for humor.

“I apologize to the Afghan folks, to esteemed spiritual scholars and to the government of the Islamic Emirate,” Haqiqi explained though standing with a few other detained colleagues, which include Sakhi. All but Sakhi wore mild brown uniforms.

Haqiqi presently had apologized in a independent movie just before he was detained.

“My message to all YouTubers and the youth lively in the media is to severely avoid generating any insults to Islamic values,” he added.

Taliban officers did not immediately remark on the case, and it is unclear what authorized actions they confront.
